Drawing corvids

In this two part, small group, interactive Zoom class, open to students of all levels, attendees will complete a finished drawing of a Corvid.

In part one, students will work on preliminary drawings of bird anatomy in order to understand form and shape, and how the bird body works.

In part two, they will use the understanding from part one to bring the bird to life.

Both sessions will include basic drawing skill tips, instruction on line and form, and tools to make the process both fun and easy.

Students will have the opportunity to share their work and receive feedback during class and will complete the class with a finished drawing of a Corvid.

Materials:

  • A pencil

  • An eraser (preferably not at the end of your pencil)

  • A sheet of paper

  • A ruler or straightedge



tuition: $40 - $60 sliding scale

About the instructor:

The paintings of award-winning artist Beth Lowell have been exhibited in solo exhibitions and group exhibitions in museums and galleries throughout the United States, including the Slater Museum in Norwich, Connecticut, the Paterson Museum in Paterson, New Jersey, the Lewis Gallery in Portland, Maine, Contemporary 33 in Chicago, Illinois and Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York. In addition, her paintings are in private and corporate collections, including Animal Nature in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and the Mondelli Building in Morristown, New Jersey.
