  • A personal mask and hand cleaner

  • A notebook and writing implement

  • Your lunch, water and snacks

  • Optionally, you can bring a camera and binoculars and a field guides.

OUR DAY

10:30 Meet in the Park and set up your lawn chair at a safe distance from others.

We will have a talk about the day ahead by looking at how to do the exercise and receive the full benefit from the experience

11:30 To final destination.

We will move, each using our own cars, up to a forested area which is a couple miles from the meeting spot. Participants will take their chair, notepad and pencil, food and water and find a tree they want to adopt for the day.

Quiet sit will commence once everyone is settled.

While you are sitting you will keep track of sounds, smells and notice everything you can about your tree and it’s immediate surroundings.

Approximately an hour later we will all make noise as we eat our lunches by our trees, get up and stretch and take a closer look at anything that made you curious.

You will mark, with supplied marking tape, anything you want to share with the group.

1:00 PM Circle back up

We will meet on the road and set up a big circle of chairs and share.

We will form a train, and with our masks on, will visit the trees and marked sign. Instructors and former tracking students will help clarify the observed signs and mysteries.

3:00 PM (more or less) Back to Hemlock Park

We will gather again at Hemlock Park for a talk on how to proceed with tracking in times of social distancing and world unrest.

Safety in the woods will be discussed from what to do if you see a black bear or cougar to how to find a spot for adventures and seclusion.

We will talk about the future of tracking programs through Treesong and discuss ideas for more programs.

4:00PM Wrap up.
