GURUSURYA KHALSA
Experience the art and science of bird language through this experiential course. Learn the ancient skill of interpreting the voices and movements of birds and begin to understand where aerial and land predators may be, all while tapping into a deeper awareness of yourself and nature. When aware of the vocalizations and movements of songbirds, it’s possible to discover the presence and movement of predators such as coyotes, birds of prey, or even the neighborhood cat. This interactive class is sure to help you experience a deeper awareness and connection to nature that many have forgotten in these modern times.
Your participation in course activities will help you to:
Deepen your relationship to nature
Calm your nervous system & quiet your mind
Improve your tracking and pattern recognition skills
Gain tools that will allow you to be more attentive to your surroundings and sensitive to your effect on other beings and wild nature
While not required, participants are encouraged to attend the instructor’s Introduction to Bird Language online class on Wednesday, May 11, 2022.
We strongly encourage acquiring a copy of What The Robin Knows by Jon Young to supplement your experiential learning.
We are expecting that social distancing precautions and masks will be in place while at TreeSong in May.

About the instructor:
GuruSurya Khalsa has been studying bird language since 2008 and has taught bird language workshops through PCC, the Ridgefield Wildlife Refuge, and METRO and Cascadia Wild. Most mornings you can find her on her small porch in SE Portland tuning into song sparrows, crows and other “regulars.” GuruSurya is passionate about helping people recognize that their own state of being and awareness determines how much they experience while out on the land — or in the city!
