Tualatin National Wildlife Refuge
This Sherwood refuge is a lovely place to walk in fall, with harriers, bald eagles, and plenty of other birds to keep us busy. We’ll start at the observation deck then walk the River Trail 1 mile out and 1 mile back.
Dress for weather and bring binoculars (or let us know if you want to borrow binoculars). Bring snacks, lunch, water, whatever will keep you happy for the morning.

About the instructor:
Longtime birder and teacher Laura Whittemore loves to show beginners the tricks of the trade. She has taught classes for Audubon Society of Portland and previously worked for Backyard Bird Shop, where she helped bird-feeding enthusiasts ID those confusing little brown birds. Laura holds a BA in Biology from Lewis and Clark College and has traveled in the US, Australia, South Africa, and Antarctica in search of birds.
