Drawing Amongst the Trees
Monday, July 25th, 10am-3pm
In this fun one-day art camp, children 6 to 10 years old will learn drawing basics in a joyful, uplifting atmosphere, surrounded by the beauty of forest and river. Artist and professional photographer Marlene Cowan will support children in slowing down and seeing the world with fresh eyes. Using techniques from the popular book Drawing with Children by Mona Brooks, Marlene will help children experience a sense of delight and gain confidence in their artistic abilities.
The day will include:
- Relaxation exercises
- Identifying the 5 basic elements of contour shape
- Drawing warm-ups
- Observing the 5 basic elements on a nature walk
- Songs and games
- Using their newly-found skills to create a guided nature drawing
Materials will be provided. Do send along a sack lunch and water bottle. Please make sure your child is wearing sunscreen and sturdy shoes.
Tuition: $45 plus $5 materials fee

Artist Marlene Cowan has been a professional photographer for 27 years. She is passionate about instilling a love of art and a positive self-image in children of all ages. She enjoys drawing and other creative pursuits. Marlene is the mother of two adult children and a grandmother of the cutest baby in the whole world!
